Mobile Phones a Threat to Email Marketing

The emergence of web supporting mobile phones have rendered a red signal to email marketing. Online Marketers who used HTML emails to conduct their direct marketing process are now having a hard time removing the addresses of mobile email users and traditional computer email receivers.

This division and separation of email addresses is important in order to make sure that the emails that are being sent are read by the users. These promotional emails are generally created in the HTML formats, which is not supported by most mobile phones generally. The mobile emails generally show text messages only, whereby, the HTML mails fired by the email marketers go unnoticed.

In order to make sure that the mails these marketers are sending, are being read by their receivers, the marketers need to design their mails in text also, so that the receivers can atleast read their mails. This technique will definitely have a drawback. The email marketing trend will go back to its traditional form, but the positive part of the game is that, the mails will be read immediately by the readers as they will have easy access to the web, which might also increase the number of hits on the concerned website.

The marketers will now have to concentrate more on the content of the website, ensuring that the content is short. Crisp, interesting and to the point, Headlines become more essential in such cases. Marketers will now have to pay more attention towards headlines so that the receivers find it interesting and relevant and generate clicks on them.

I think ultimately newer technology will catch up with mobile phones and support and spread the influence of email marketing.
